La Grotte Demoiselles

On Sunday we went on a little adventure on our way home from Mont-Pellier where we said aurevoir to Manda and dad. We went to the mountains and got to go inside a huuuuge cave! We took about an hour walk through the cave and saw lots of really sweet looking rocks. (Notice the bottom picture looks like the virgin Mary holding baby Jesus!) There were no carvings or anything in this cave it was all God made. It was a wee bit scary walking on little ledges right next to 40 m drop offs!

Gladiators and bull fighters!

Last week when Manda and dad were still here we went to a town called Nimes to go see an ancient gladiator stadium! It was really big and very well preserved, so in addition to being a tourist attraction, they still have bullfighting every now and then. Just our luck we chose the windiest day EVER to go to this big, roofless stadium..:)

Hola Barcelona!!

Hola!
We are back in France after a quick but wonderful trip to the beautiful city of Barcelona!
Since our last post we have been quite the tourists, getting to see many famous attractions in a short period of time.
Tuesday we went to see Le Pont du Gard and also went to Avignon and saw the famous Pont d'Avignon and Le Palais des Papes! And yes, we did dance while singing "sur le pont d'Avignon on'y danse..."

Wednesday we headed off to Barcelona! Kudos to Dad for all he has done to set up this great adventure and all of our little mini ones along the way!! We are so thankful and blessed to be able to do all of this.
After we checked into our hotel, we headed to the Sagrada Familia which is a beautiful basilica built 131 years ago. We were all overcome by its beauty. It was truly a blessing to be able to go and see it for ourselves after having heard so many wonderful things about it. Definitely the one place you must visit if you are ever in Barcelona.

Afterwards, we treated ourselves to some delicious subs and Starbucks and enjoyed everything Spain had to offer from the cosiness of our beautiful hotel room... Typical North Americans.

Today (thursday) we got an early start to the day and ate breakfast down by the Mediterranean Sea. After some food and a little walking on the beach, we got in the car and drove over to the Montijuich Palace which is apparently where the Cheetah Girls go in one of their movies...

After stopping at an outlet and walking away with nothing but a new soccer ball for Connor, we rushed home to get back in time for Mom to get all prettied up for her big night out with a group of fellow "English" women she met the other day. She is still out gallivanting as we speak while the rest of us are sitting at home in our pjs watching Devil Wears Prada and eating cereal.
I hate to brag, but I am feeling pretty darn lucky right now.
Life really is good, although I do wish you were all here with us... I swear I'm not just saying that ;)

Bonsoir!
Avec amour,
Les Kimpinskis

Week 1

Well we are here safe and sound!
Where exactly is here? A little village called Aumes near Montpelier in the south of beautiful France!
We are about a twenty minute drive from the Mediterranean Sea and 45 minutes from Montpellier which is where our plane landed.
Yesterday we were lucky enough to be bumped to first class which was absolutely heavenly. We received amazing treatment and slept like babies which made the transition from Saskatoon time to Paris time a lot easier. Thankfully all of our luggage also arrived which was a major blessing as this has never happened to us on an overseas flight before!
After sleeping for 18 hours, we are all well adjusted and feeling little to no jet-lag.
The house is magificent! Very quaint and adorable!
We heat it with a real wood burning fireplace and warm our beds with hot watter bottles!
The village is small, but beautiful. Picture the little village in Beauty and the Beast and that is exactly what it is like!
We are happy to say that Connor has already made some friends; two little boys from England and two from France who live here in the village.
This morning we feasted on freshly baked croissants and baguettes and now we are eating cheese and sipping wine... Well mom and dad are!
Tomorrow we are going to see Le Pont du Gard (a 160 feet high, two thousand year old bridge built by the romans) which is about an hour drive from our house.
Wednedsay we are going to Barcelona! We are going to stay the night and then come home Thursday. Hopefully we will do some shopping and lots of touring!
Connor was thrilled to see that he had already received emails and he loved replying so keep sending them!
And don't forget to send letters! We have an adorable post office just down the street from our house :)
Attached are some photos of our first days here.
It is safe to say that we are settling in quite well and are loving every minute of our France adventure!
We will keep you posted as often as we can!

Love,
The Kimpinskis
